I love to write. I even like to write about controversial things, I just don't like my controversial thoughts to be known all the time by my family and friends. It leads to many awkward conversations and quiet family dinners. So I have decided to take my thoughts that could be divisive in one forum and place them in a more anonymous one. One that is only found through search engines and key words, not by a Facebook profile or a conversation between dedicated "followers."
This blog will be about my journey to Catholicism. My conversion, that is, from an Evangelical Protestant to a born again Catholic. And I do not use that phrase lightly. For in my search I have felt more of a rebirth of my faith than I have ever known.
This will be my thoughts, what I have learned recently, and the key issues that are daily reinforcing my desire to become Catholic. Maybe it will be read by others, and maybe not. But when my kids come to ask why they have been taught, and hopefully believe, something other than what the rest of the family believes, these writings will be my points of reference. My story for my kids. Proof that through it all, Godly wisdom was sought, it was longed for, and it was hopefully found within the doors of the Holy Catholic Church.
I usually only write when I am inspired. And although I love the little encounters that reside in daily life with pictures, vacations, and hilarious kid-isms.... I have tried, and failed, to quench an unexplainable need to write in words my journey to the Catholic Church. I believe it is a love story, and for that reason it cannot be kept silent. It is a story that was not sought out, but rather followed. It was not planned, but rather providentially executed. It has been terrifying, yet immensely sacred.
It is the story of how my Savior became All, and welcomed me into the fellowship with his Body. This is the story of how I came home and found the fullness of the faith.
